Prior to the development of Pfleiderer centrifugal process three
production methods were used to produce fiberglass poles; filament
winding, matched metal die molding and pultrusion. The centrifugal
process (patent applied for) yields optimum results with regard
to shape, reinforcement and smoothness of the outer surface. SETRON
reinforced polyester poles are produced in specially design centrifugal
machines which are fitted with chromium plated steel moulds.
Textile E-glassfiber fabrics are used as reinforcement (tensile
strength = 2000N/mm2) with the majority of the fibers in the warp.
The weft fibers simply stabilize the fabric. Such a fabric results
in an excellent material to take the main axial loads of a pole.
The fabric is covered on one side with a chopped
strand mat to provide the shear strength required in case of impact,
compression or torque. Depending on the required pole wall thickness
(function of draft and length of pole) 4 to 8 layers of the above
material are used. For protection purposes a chemical resistant
covering is used for the external layer of the pole.
This covering guarantees that a uniform resin-rich layer of a
thickness approximately 1mm is achieved.
The centrifugal produced pole is manufactured and cured in one
operation. The glass to resin ratio is 40 to 60. The upper end
of the pole is reinforced with a stainless steel grid in areas
of high stress caused by the nuts and bolts used for lamp assembly.

FIBERGLASS REINFORCED PLASTIC (FRP)
Over 30 years' experience in the manufacture of flagpoles, lighting poles
and glide-slope antenna towers made of fiberglass
reinforced plastic and the many advantages of GRP as a material apply
equally when it comes to mobile telephone infrastructures.

The distinctive futures of FRP are:
- Weather and corrosion resistance
- Shock absorbent: safer in car accidents
- Completely smooth and homogeneous surface
- Extremely scratch resistance
- Single section up to 15m-multiply section up to 22 m
- Non-conductive
- Insensitive to UV radiation
- Environmentally safe
- Non-Resonant (Low harmonic vibration)
- Many attractive and light fast RAL colours
- FRP can be completely pre-assembled in the factory
- No necessary to use mobile cranes
- Ease of installation
- Significantly reduction in installation and crane cost
- Patented centrifugal technique
- Specifications & Test methods: DIN 18820, DIN 4131-4228, EC1,
EN 12767
